SpongeBob, Thomas and Friends Toys Recalled

Curious George also in latest round-up of lead-tainted toys

August 22, 2007

More recalls ...
More batches of Chinese-made toys are being recalled because of excessive lead content.

The recalled items include SpongeBob SquarePants journals and address books as well as Thomas and Friends and Curious George spinning tops and toy pails.

Additional recalls announced today include Buy-Rite "Divine Inspiration" bracelets and TOBY & ME jewelry.

Meanwhile, a lawyer in Philadelphia has filed a class-action lawsuit against Mattel, which last week last week recalled millions of Chinese-made toys, including the "Sarge" jeep from the hit movie "Cars," because the toys' paint may contain high levels of lead.

"We're not going to allow unsafe products to reach American consumers especially when it's lead painted toys reaching our children," said Jeffrey Killino, the Philadelphia attorney who filed the suit.
