Scam Targets U2 Fans

Email spam and small print ads are heralding upcoming concerts by the Irish rock band U2, and offering tickets for sale. But consumers who send off for tickets will be singing a sad tune -- there are no U2 concerts scheduled.

The group has just concluded an extensive world tour and is now reportedly preparing to return to the studio to work on a new album.

The band appears to be just as confused about the ads as their fans.

"Some fans have been in touch to let us know of adverts appearing in the press offering tickets for U2 shows in London and Paris this year, the group said on its Web site, www.u2.com.

"Take it from us, these adverts are a scam -- there are no live plans for this year. Do not buy tickets for U2 shows unless you've read it here first."
