Pat of Jackson (3/14/05):
as i review the auto related stories in your site i cant help but notice that there seems to be unfavorable bias towards ford motor company. even articles which include issues with other brands seem to be titled with ford as the lead off. i am not a ford employee just a ford owner who has experied very favorable ownership experiences with my cars and trucks. pertaining to the fire issue with cruise control cases you have only documented 40 cases in your database from millions of vehicles sold? what is the defect ppm rate? pretty low i would imagine.
Quite the literary critic you are, Pat of Jackson NoState. Actually, we have well over 100 Ford fires in our database. Pat may be correct that we've only published 40. We don't publish every complaint we receive to avoid duplication.
As for why there are more Ford complaints on our site, we get more complaints about Ford than about any other automaker -- including fires, catastrophic engine failures and spark plugs blowing out of engine blocks. Likewise, there are more stories about Ford class actions for the simple reason that there are more of them.
Just for the record, in the active complaints database as of 3/14/05, there are
2,264 complaints with "Ford" in the title, 879 for Chrysler, 751 for GM.
On the other hand, maybe Pat of Jackson is right. After all, he has had several Fords so that makes him an expert, now doesn't it?
