Hey Jim! - Questions about Pools & Spas for a Home Improvement Contractor

By James Allen

Jennifer of Wilton, Iowa:
I have a doughboy above pool and I changed the sand in the pump, I added water to the pump as I am suppose to and know I have the pump pumping sand back into the pool. I have done this 2 different time and still the same problem. Is there something I am missing? Can you PLEASE help me with this problem?

Gee, I used to work on pools. Hundreds of em. But not the filters.

1)Double-check the instructions to be sure all the valves are positioned properly. A valve askew on the back-flush branch with the waste port closed might cause a problem.

2)Do you have the right kind of filter media in place? If there is multiple media, sequence is important (gives you an idea of how out of date I am!).

3)Call the filter manufacturer or check their web site. This usually will get the right answers, often for free.

4)Call the installer.
